Our Vision
The vision of Fort Hill United Methodist Church is to be grounded in faith, hope, and love as stated in I Corinthians 13:13 (And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three and the greatest of these is love). Our prayer is these values will provide the foundation for how our congregation connects with the Fort Hill and greater Lynchburg community. Called by the vision of faith, hope, and love that Jesus proclaimed we seek to live as a community of faith that makes a lasting difference. In turn, we invite others to live in this vision with us. The mission of Fort Hill United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, VA is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This mission is fulfilled as Fort Hill connects with the Lynchburg community through partnerships in a variety of missions such as the Park View Community Mission. Fort Hill United Methodist Church believes in living a life of service. In addition, Fort Hill is one of several partner churches near you in ministry with other congregations of The United Methodist Church in over 100 nations around the world. Guided by the biblical call to love our neighbors as ourselves, Fort Hill United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, VA seeks to be a mission outpost in the greater central Virginia area. Grounded in faith since 1899, the Fort Hill congregation seeks to be bold in proclaiming God’s love in today’s world by reaching out and welcoming people in the love of Jesus Christ.
